We spoke to experienced makeup artist and BBs Beauty and Brows founder Cindy Bansal to find out why you might want to consider defining your arches in this interesting way.
“The main reason most women choose to tint their brows is due to years of over tweezing,” says Cindy. But self-sabotage isn’t the only factor. “Eyebrows naturally lighten from the sun, which means the ends of our brows are sometimes not as prominent as the inner corners.” And unfortunately, even age can affect people’s eyebrows. “The older we get, the more our brows seem to fade away. Brow tinting is a great way to help make them look fuller and more pronounced,” she says.
The key is finding the right tone and shape to accentuate your face shape, complement your skin tone, and make your eyes appear bright and wide.
“Although I love dark, bold brows myself, certain skin tones and hair colour combinations look better with softer, brighter brows,” says Cindy.
For example, it is possible to use two different-coloured tints on those with fair hair. This involves tinting the tails of the brows with a darker hue to make them look fuller and then use a more golden colour along the top of the brows to help brighten them further.
The best advice I can give people is to accentuate what you have naturally and not go overboard! Too much of a good thing can ruin the look you are trying to achieve but as brow specialists we will do everything we can to transform your look.
But why tint instead of simply pencilling them in?
“Tinting looks much more natural, and you won’t see any of the little marks that your pencil can leave behind,” says Cindy.
“Plus, more pronounced brows allow you to wear less makeup and help you look younger. Think about it—Cindy Crawford never seems to age, and part of it is thanks to her strong, full brows.”

Colour your brows
A tint will instantly make your brows look thicker and fuller. This should be done first at one of our salons as plucking opens pores making irritation more likely.
Trim your brows
Use a brow brush to shape up and outwards so that all the hairs of your brows are sitting in the right direction.
If you are inclined to trim any long hairs, ensure you keep at least half the length of your hair to avoid over doing it.
Better still, come into one of our salons to make sure you don’t ruin your eyebrows as you’ll regret it from here on in.
Plot the natural arch of your eyebrows
The right shape and length of your brows can open up your eye area, helping you look rested and fresh.
Make you brows too short and you will make your eyes look out of proportion while making them too long will shrink your eyes and dominate your face.

Pluck your brows
Using tweezers to remove any hairs outside of your perfect eyebrow shape will result in neater brows and will define the arch, too.

New to waxing?
A little scared?
Don’t be.
Start off with just the bikini line and each time you have a wax, request to edge inwards if you prefer less hair-down-there. Before you know it you’ll be asking for the Hollywood without so much as a batter of those eyelids!
And the more you wax, the less painful it becomes. So try to keep to 3-4 week appointments for less hair and smoother skin in the long run.
And as for shaving, it really is best left alone as much as you can. It can irritate your skin and leave cuts and nicks, which leave behind portals for bacteria to enter—a.k.a infection central!
Shaving can also lead to hyper-pigmentation on the bikini line and underarms which can also toughen the skin- Stubble just doesn’t isn’t an attractive attribute so steer clear of grabbing your razors everyone!

Which method is best for brow hair removal?
The type of brow shaping you have really is a personal preference.
Many women personally prefer waxing by a professional to remove the hair as it’s quick (and if done by a trained professional at BBs Beauty and Brows bar, virtually pain-free!) then tweeze to shape as this is precise and there is less risk of removing the wrong hair as it’s only one hair as a time.
How do I maintain my newly shaped brows?
We recommend you wax your brows every 4 weeks at your BBs Beauty and Brows bar and leave the actual shaping of your brows to a pro.
How do I make my fine brows look more ‘Delevingne’d’?
To strengthen your brows, you can have them tinted. This will enhance them, but with a natural finish. A tint lasts between 4-6 weeks, so your brows will stay fantastic for longer.
